This is what I'm talking about - sooner or later SMS is going to die, the trend is also happening in Indonesia especially on the last two Eid, greetings were moved from traditional SMS to social medias (facebook, twitter) and chats as well (BBM, whatsapp, viber, etc). With the birth of IOS5's iMessage and BBM is also opening for Android, it's not a good news for SMS :) and also not a good news for cellular operators as well, why?
Usually SMS will be charged per transaction, even though some operators having SMS promo like getting Y free SMS after sending X charged sms on daily basis, but still - this promo is not much affecting revenue from SMS. On the other hand, almost all operators having 1 or 2 Giga till unlimited data plan for their subscribers which cost less than 100K IDR monthly. So when SMS traffic is going down because of movement to social medias/chats, SMS revenue will be much declined but not significantly increasing DATA/GPRS revenue ...
Indonesia suram (?)
